Hypnotic in its measured pace, ‘Showdown’ incorporates traditional Kenyan percussion with bass synths and electronic sounds. This technique goes back to more than two decades when American rapper Missy Elliott popularised the fusion of Cuban folk music with African rhythms and percussion.

Blinky Bill features two ladies miming to his verses in the new video, which was shot at different sections of a colourful hotel lobby in Nairobi, Kenya.

The third verse features MVROE, who makes an entrance by riding on a hotel luggage trolley. Kiwango takes on the last verse in a colourful room with a few youngsters dancing the camera and having a good time.

‘Showdown’ is off Blinky Bill's upcoming Everyone's Just Winging It and Other Fly Tales album due for release on 19 October 2018.
