Call for applications: Pilotenkueche arts residency in Germany
The Pilotenkueche international art programme is inviting artists from around the world to apply for round 46 of its residency project, which will take place in Leipzig, Germany, from January 2021.
The three-month independent programme, which is run by artists, aims to support and empower artists. It will fuse the use of studio space with programmed internal and external activities, and exhibitions. Selected artists will work in a 465m², fully remodelled space for a period of three months, with 24-hour studio access. Each accepted artist is offered a partial stipend in kind that represents unpaid working hours.
“We maintain engagements with several partners, and by introducing our artists to these, make it possible for participants to cooperate with and exhibit in other venues," Pilotenkueche said. "Our concept encourages experimental strategies aiming to provide our participants with the experience of accomplishing something collectively. In a group of about 12 international artists, together with two local artists participating on our programme activities, a stimulating dialogue becomes vital in fostering an independent position in one's work, which leads to a long-term network that exists even after the programme is over.”
The programme activities consist of the following:
- Studio visits and open studio if the group is interested.
- Contact to the local art scene.
- Organised museum tours.
- Scheduled art critiques.
- Published artists spotlight on each artist.
- Professional install and exhibition pictures.
- Two group exhibitions in interesting venues.
