Praiz and Vector to headline Hennessy Artistry concert
One of the most reputable gigs in the country, the Hennessy Artistry concerts has seen several prominent Nigerian artists take the top bill. In the past artists, such as MI, Naeto C, D’Banj among others have headlined the series of concerts sponsored by the cognac brand. The event has also seen unusual partnerships as well as happened in 2010, when juju exponent Shina Peters, famous in the nineties, collaborated with younger artists Nneka, Bez, Kas, MI and Ice Prince on the event’s theme song ‘Like a Bottle’.
The event’s last edition in 2014 saw two contemporary stars Wizkid and 2face headline the concerts. Together they released the song ‘Dance Go (Eau de Vie)’. At the time, Wizkid joked, ‘You know how much I have spent on Hennessy? That’s why I accepted the deal!’
In 2011, Wizkid’s erstwhile label boss Banky W co-headlined the event. He was the first R&B artist to feature on the concert’s top billing, which has since come to mostly feature mostly artists working in different genres in line with its ‘fine art of blending’ theme.
With Vector and Praiz headlining the event this year, Hennessy Artistry gets two trending artists—with Praiz’s release of the single ‘Lost in You’ from his double disc debut ‘Rich and Famous’ (2014). For his part, Vector has just released a remix to his acclaimed single ‘King Kong’ following a lauded mixtape late 2014.
Hennessy Artistry as a worldwide event began in 2006. Concert dates for the 2015 edition in Nigeria will be announced shortly.
