Top SA artists to help Cassper Nyovest fill up Orlando Stadium
Top South African rapper Cassper Nyovest has roped in fellow musicians to help him fill up Orlando Stadium in the Soweto township.
Babes Wodumo, Nasty C, Khuli Chana, Riky Rick, Kwesta and Major League Djz will perform with Cassper on 29 October at the iconic stadium, with a capacity of 40,000 people. Cassper last year made history by becoming the first local artist to sell out the Ticketpro Dome in the north of Johannesburg. If he manages to attract a full house at Orlando Stadium, he will double the crowd that attended his 2015 “Fill Up The Dome” show.
Last year the musician (real name Refiloe Maele Phoolo) received support from Black Coffee, Black Motion, L-Tido, Riky Rick, Khuli Chana, other celebs and even politicians.
The star-studded line-up will no doubt attract a big crowd and add the much-needed flavour required at any concert. Attendees should look forward to a string of performances of popular songs, such as Wodumo’s ‘Wololo’, Nasty C’s ‘Switched Up’, ‘Money’ by Khuli Chana, ‘Boss Zonke’ by Riky Rick, while Kwesta will probably perform Ngud’ with Cassper (a song in which Cassper features, which has acquired more than 2.9 million views on YouTube).
With only three weeks before the award-winning rapper attempts to make history, Cassper yesterday hit the streets to hand out fliers of the concert to passersby. The ‘Doc Shebeleza’ hitmaker, who recently returned from a successful show in Germany, shared a video of himself on Johannesburg’s Grayston Drive with his 657,000 Twitter followers.
“Handing out flyers for #FillUpOrlandoStadium in traffic and i bumped into a fan bumpin my new single 2 legit in his whip (car),” he wrote on Twitter.
The concert will cost Cassper millions to organize but the rapper has received sponsorship for this much-awaited gig. In August, giant mobile telecommunications company MTN agreed to fund Nyovest’s Fill Up Orlando Stadium concert. South Africa’s Department of Arts and Culture also came on board as an official sponsor.
Cassper started fundraising for the Orlando concert last year, partly using social media to reach out to potential funders.
Tickets are available from Computicket. Prices range from R300 for general admission to R450 for access to the golden circle.
