Cotton Fest heading to Cape Town on 10 December
The organisers of Cotton Fest in South Africa have announced that this year’s edition will take place at the Paarden Eiland Park in Cape Town on 10 December.
Created by late South African rapper and fashion icon Riky Rick in 2019, the festival features some of the country’s finest talent performing over two stages. The event also features various lifestyle elements, including fashion and sport.
Traditionally held in Newtown, Johannesburg, the event will be hosted for the first time in Cape Town.
“This started out as a great idea between Riky and I many years ago to create a whole culture movement called Cotton Fest,” co-founder Alain Ferrier said. “As such, alongside his family, we are extremely excited to be building on his legacy and extending the festival to my city, which was always part of our plans. Cape Town, you’re up next, the ‘University of Cotton Fest’ will officially open for registration next week.”

Cotton Fest has become one of South Africa’s biggest culture gatherings. It features more than 100 artists celebrating the new wave of music, fashion and lifestyle. Mainly known for merging both established and upcoming South African talent, the event also showcases the diversities in music while fusing the gaps within the current different local movements.
Last year witnessed the most notable edition with over 130 local artists, including Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, AKA, Boity, Big Zulu, 25K, Nadia Nakai, Emtee and Khuli Chana taking to stage.
It is expected that the artists performing this year will pay tribute to Riky Rick following his passing on 23 February.
Tickets will be on sale at Webtickets and Pick n Pay outlets nationwide from 18 October.
