Call for applications: Scholarships for performing artists in Germany
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is offering foreign graduates scholarships to study in the field of the performing arts in 2022-23.
The scholarships offer graduates the opportunity to continue their education in Germany with a postgraduate or continuing course. The scholarships also promote the exchange of experience and networking among colleagues.
Interested participants can complete:
- A master’s degree/postgraduate degree leading to a final qualification.
- A complementary course that does not lead to a final qualification (not an undergraduate course).
Eligibility
The programme only funds projects including:
- Musicals
- Dance and choreography
- Drama
- Theatre directing
- Theatre dramaturgy
Successful applicants will receive the following:
- Monthly payment of €850 ($986).
- Travel allowance, unless these expenses are covered by the home country or another source of funding.
- A once-off study allowance.
- Payments towards health, accident and personal liability insurance cover.
Under certain circumstances, scholarship holders may receive the following additional benefits:
- Monthly rent subsidy.
- Monthly allowance for accompanying members of the family.
Note:
Applicants from the fields of drama and direction should have good to excellent knowledge of German, and those from the fields of musicals, performance studies, dance and choreography require at least a basic knowledge of German and good knowledge of English.
