Afrobeats stars, Bob Marley unite on collabo album slated for early August
Island Records has announced the release date of a posthumous Bob Marley and the Wailers album done in collaboration with contemporary African musicians titled Africa Unite.
Scheduled for release on 4 August, Africa Unite pays homage to Bob Marley’s greatest hits, beautifully reimagined and infused with the infectious rhythms of Afrobeats.
This 10-track project features inspiring renditions of Bob Marley’s classics by a stellar line-up of Afrobeats artists such as Sarkodie, Tiwa Savage, Teni and Oxlade, and others who will be announced before the album release.
Each artist brings their unique flair and artistry, paying tribute to Bob Marley’s enduring influence while adding their refreshing voices to his iconic compositions. Bob Marley’s impact is immeasurable. His ageless music transcends borders and generations and this project is no different, inviting listeners on an enchanting sonic journey.
From the heart-warming rendition of ‘Waiting In Vain’ to the uplifting energy of ‘Stir It Up’, the album is a fusion of two extraordinary musical worlds.
Backing this album announcement is also the release of the lead single, a new version of Bob Marley’s ‘Three Little Birds’ performed by rising Nigeria stars Teni and Oxlade, which emulates the original with an Afro-fusion kick.
