Nigeria: Joeboy drops Osadebe single
Nigerian singer Joeboy today released his new single ‘Osadebe’, which is available for streaming and download across major digital platforms.
‘Osadebe’ is Joeboy’s first release of 2024 and debut release since securing a distribution deal with Warner Music.
Produced by K-Dreamz, the track is ferried on a mellow groove, and references late Nigerian highlife vet Chief Osita Osadebe’s classic ‘Osondi Owendi’. Thematically, it revolves around introspection and the reality of being in the spotlight, stressing an individual journey with no interest in being compared to others.
“The fact is, you can do things on your own terms and stay in your lane and achieve the same, if not better, results than other people living loudly,” the singer said. “I am my biggest competition, I don’t care what others are doing. The only person that I’m focused on is me.”
Before joining Warner with his just-launched Young Legend label, Joeboy, who currently sits on more than two billion streams, was signed to Mr Eazi’s emPawa Africa. Young Legend, which will have Joeboy as CEO, will support the careers of new Nigerian music stars.
“I’ve been blessed in my work so far and I want to give back to the artistic community by scouting, nurturing and promoting the next generation of talent,” Joeboy said about Young Legend’s vision. “Music today can quickly connect with fans around the world, so it makes sense to work with a global partner that can help me build my artists’ international careers.”
