Open call: OneBeat 2025 music residency programme
Applications are currently ongoing for the 2025 edition of OneBeat (OneBeat 15), a music residency programme in the US.
A month-long initiative by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, it uses collaborative music creation to foster civic discourse, economic rejuvenation, and civic engagement through the arts.
OneBeat will convene 25 musicians from up to 54 eligible countries and territories. These fellows will spend approximately one month in an intensive residency, offering artists the opportunity to write, produce, and perform original music, and develop strategies for arts-based community engagement. They will then go on tour across a region of the US, performing for various American audiences, collaborating with local musicians, and leading workshops with youth and community organisations.
During the exchange, musicians will develop projects for their home countries that embody the power of musical collaboration and civic engagement to address shared community challenges.
Eligible African countries include:
- Algeria
- Democratic Republic of Congo
- Egypt
- Ghana
- Kenya
- Mali
- Morocco
- Nigeria
- South Africa
- Tunisia
- Zimbabwe
Note: Applicants must be 19 or older by the start of the programme (April 2025) and 35 or younger at the end of the programme (May 2025).
Interested applicants may apply here by 6 September.
