Under the agreement, Sintonia Publishing will represent Sheer Publishing Africa’s catalogue in Angola, while Sheer will globally represent Sintonia’s works. This collaboration is expected to enhance opportunities for local Angolan talent, providing them with greater international exposure.
Sintonia Publishing, which holds an extensive catalogue of Angolan and Lusophone African music, will now benefit from Sheer’s global network, ensuring broader promotion and growth for its artists. Similarly, Sheer Publishing’s catalogue will have exclusive representation in Angola through Sintonia, covering public performance, synchronisation, adaptation, and promotion across radio and television.
Sintonia Publishing director Sabina Fernandes described the partnership as a significant milestone for both Sintonia and the Angolan music industry.
“The trust placed in us to manage a high-level repertoire – including internationally renowned catalogues such as Warner Chappell (featuring songs performed by Michael Jackson, Adele, Bruno Mars, and Wiz Khalifa) and Family Tree (with works performed by Cassper Nyovest) – demonstrates our expertise and commitment to the value of copyright. We are excited about the impact this partnership will have on Angola’s creative industry.”
Sheer Publishing Africa managing director Thando Makhunga said: “This collaboration is not just about business; it’s about supporting and elevating Angolan talent on the global stage. We believe in the power of African music to connect cultures, and this partnership is a testament to Sheer’s ongoing commitment to the continent’s rich musical heritage. Together, we look forward to a bright future of collaboration, creativity, and growth.”
With this agreement, Sintonia Publishing consolidates its position as Angola’s largest music publisher, representing over 20 000 national works internationally and more than 300 000 international works within Angola.
Meanwhile, Sheer Publishing Africa continues to stand out as one of the continent’s largest independent music publishers, managing a diverse catalogue that includes amapiano, hip hop, jazz, and Afrobeat. With over 18 years of experience in copyright management, Sheer is a leading force in music synchronisation for films, advertising, and television, further strengthening its influence in the global music industry.
The partnership marks a significant step forward for African music publishing, ensuring that artists and composers from Angola and beyond gain the recognition and opportunities they deserve on the international stage.
