Call for proposals: Vavasati Women's International Festival 2020 in SA
The South African State Theatre (SAST) is calling on female musicians, theatre practitioners, vendors and artists from different disciplines to submit proposals for their shows, plays, workshops, exhibitions, masterclasses, stalls and artistic roundtables for consideration at the 2020 Vavasati Women’s International Festival.
The festival takes place at SAST in Pretoria from 1 to 31 August and the organisers are inviting participants whose works is relevant and inspiring from musicians, directors, writers, choreographers, poets and visual artists.
The following information is required for consideration:
- A brief synopsis of the production.
- Motivation on why the production is relevant, cutting-edge, inspiring etc.
- Artistic treatment/technical rider.
- Company/individuals information, such as biographies of the creative team, contact details and any other publicity material of the production.
- Production trailer if available.
Note that artists have an option to present a 15-minute segment of the work to be considered. They should indicate in the application if they would like to make use of this option.
“Added to financial support, SAST will offer performance venue, access to wardrobe and décor, and marketing and PR to successful applicants,” the theatre said.
Submissions can be emailed to vavasati@statetheatre.co.za or dropped off at the SAST reception in the box labelled 'VAVASATI 2020' at 320 Pretorius Street in Pretoria.
The submission deadline is 30 November.
