Apple launches new bundled subscription plan

The new bundle is now available around the world via the App Store. It enables users to pay one monthly price for all of the aforementioned services, among others depending on the tier.

The Apple One subscription offers three different tiers. The Individual tier costs $14.95 per month, while the Family and Premier plans will set users back $19.95 and $29.95, respectively.

The plans are fairly similar and include a notable increase in iCloud storage from 50GB to 200GB in the Family plan and a jump to 2TB in the Premier tier. The latter plan also includes the News+ and Fitness+ services.

Both Family and Premier allow up to five people to access the bundled package. The Apple One subscription is intended to relieve subscription fatigue.

“Apple One, launching tomorrow [30 October], is the easiest way for users to enjoy Apple’s services, like Music, TV+, Arcade, iCloud, News+ and Fitness+,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said during Apple’s earnings call last week.

Users can sign up for the plan by opening the Settings app on their iOS device and taping on their name at the top of the app followed by Subscriptions to see the available options.

Apple One saves users money for those who use a number of services. The Individual tier saves about $6 monthly while the Family and Premier plans save $8 and $25 a month.

Apple says its Individual and Family Apple One subscription will be available in 100 countries, while the Premier plan is limited to the US, UK, Australia and Canada. Apple News+ is only available in those countries.

Cook added that the bundle was a request from customers. “We had customers coming to us and asking for an easier way to buy all of our services. And we wanted to provide that, and we’re looking forward to tomorrow to getting Apple One out there,” he told investors, who are now asking why the company does not apply the bundling approach to iPhone and AirPods.

Meanwhile, Apple admitted last week that some AirPods Pro are experiencing audio issues with its new service programme. The audio issues affect a small number of AirPods Pro manufactured before October 2020. Users have been complaining of static, crackling and noise cancellation issues after firmware updates.
