Top South African DJs line up for 2nd African edition of MTV DJ Battle

The show will be hosted live at Carfax in Newtown, Johannesburg on Saturday 27 August.

MTV DJ Battle is a musical showcase and TV show that celebrates the art of DJing by testing the skills of the county’s most talented DJs. The new season of MTV DJ Battle promises to offer young South Africans a total sensory overload. 

Each ‘battle’ features two teams of three DJs each, who will represent MTV and MTV Base. The two teams will be lined up against each other in a series of 'deck-to-deck' battles as they strive to out-mix, out-play and out-party each other. 'Wild card' challenges will be thrown into the mix and the audience ultimately decides who wins.

The first African edition of DJ Battle took place at the same venue on 16 September 2015. On that day, DJs Tira, Zinhle and Vigilante represented MTV Base while their counterparts Shimza, Cndo and Kenzhero competed on behalf of MTV.

This time around, DJs Vigilante and Heavy K will be up against each other, leading the MTV and MTV Base crews respectively. The other competitors are expected to be revealed soon.
