M.I Abaga and Jesse Jagz to rock Johannesburg
After a triumphant launch party in May featuring Kenyan crooners Sauti Sol, pan-African club event A’friquency returns to South Africa on Friday 26 August.
African music lovers can look forward to an exclusive performance from award-winning Nigerian artist and Chocolate City head honcho M.I. Abaga at one of Johannesburg’s trendiest venues, Carfax.
Joining M.I. on the night will be two key members of the Chocolate City family in the shape of hip-hop royalty Jesse Jagz and Nigeria’s foremost female selector, DJ Lambo.
Representing the South African contingent will be leading Cape Town remix duo Twins on Decks and versatile rapper and producer DJ Speedsta.
Up-and-coming acts on the bill include Nigerian-born DJ Waja Waja and Gauteng’s DJ Clen, with support from A‘friquency residents PercyStaysLit, That Guy Who DJs, Spontaneous DJ and Sam Haskins.
It’s a stellar line-up that’s set to light up the streets of downtown Jozi for the second time. Expect special guest appearances and exclusive showcase performances from Africa’s leading artists, producers and DJs, as the organisers Africori offer patrons a unique window into the pan-African movement that’s going global.
One of the leadings lights of Nigerian hip-hop, M.I. is still riding high on the success of his latest hit 'Everything'. Check out our selection of 10 of his best songs here.
Tickets for the night cost R150. For more details visit the A’friquency Facebook page or email mpho.merriweather@africori.com.
