TuneCore expands music publishing services
Global music distribution company TuneCore this week announced an expansion of its publishing services to improve independent songwriters’ earnings in more than 200 countries.
The Andreea Gleeson-led outfit has offered publishing administration services since 2012, dispersing over $125m in publishing revenue to independent songwriters. According to the company, a 2018 partnership with British independent music publisher Sentric has accounted for 87% of this revenue. In total, the company has handled 97 million song registration records, with 11 million processed in 2023 alone, and managed more than 1 billion lines of royalties.
“TuneCore Publishing now offers songwriters even more flexibility and control over their publishing revenue while also providing key analytical insights to help our songwriters grow their careers,” Gleeson said. “By expanding our services and enhancing our interface, we are proud to offer self-releasing artists the most comprehensive suite of music publishing services that will put more money in their pockets – more quickly — wherever in the world it is earned. We are also investing in resources and teams as we grow TuneCore Publishing into the category leader, positioning the company as the perfect complement to our leading artist development and distribution platform.”
TuneCore’s improved music publishing services come at no extra cost for artists and offer unlimited song submissions for a one-time $75 set-up fee and a 15% commission.
TuneCore Publishing now enables songwriters to collect royalties from multiple artist collaborations, register unlimited songs globally, access personalised royalty analytics, and seamlessly integrate with Spotify artist pages for song registration.
Additionally, the service, which boasts a new user interface, enables songwriters to maintain 100% ownership of their copyrights and ensures quicker royalty payments through direct memberships with pay sources and performing rights organisations in some 240 territories worldwide, surpassing any other company in its category.
“Through expanded services, faster payments and increased transparency into the complex world of music publishing, TuneCore has established itself as one of the leading providers of music publishing services on behalf of self-releasing artists, giving them the greatest opportunity to earn money from their music and build sustainable careers,” the company said.
The latest development follows TuneCore’s recent collaboration with American audio company PreSonus aimed at streamlining the transition from music creation to digital distribution, along with a new partnership with Beatport to empower TuneCore artists to distribute their music on the electronic music platform.
