D’banj partners with bank to promote local music industry
Music subscription platform Creative, Reality, Entertainment, Arts and Music (CREAM), which is owned by Nigerian singer D’banj, this week partnered with Access Bank in a move designed to promote and nurture young talent in the country.
The local bank channelled 10 million naira ($30 000) towards the development of artists who are subscribed to CREAM – a lottery system for creatives that offers artists the opportunity to win free studio time, music video shoots and opportunities to work with any artist of their choice.
“With Access Bank coming on board, there’ll be a lot of added value and advantage to our subscribers, which doesn’t affect usual monthly draws and winners,” B’banj said. “Access Bank will be giving lucky winners 1 million naira weekly for 10 weeks. Also, 10 entrepreneurs will be trained within the 10-week period all courtesy of Access Bank.”
The partnership with the bank also cements an extension of CREAM with the addition of CREAM Plus and CREAM Premium, which will enable its 3 million subscribers to access the platform through the bank.
“At Access Bank we are committed to providing innovative solutions for the markets and communities we serve. As such, we have decided to partner with D'banj and the CREAM platform,” Access Bank group head corporate communications and external affairs Amaechi Okobi said. “We will continue to support the creative industry and ensure that we provide all the support needed to bring their ideas to reality.”
D’banj’s friend, business partner and DKM Digital CEO Damian Ifeanyi Okoroafor said CREAM would continue to expand beyond the existing creative categories it served.
“The new deal with Access Bank is designed to reach out to more talent and to expand to other categories such as agriculture, education entrepreneurship and sports," Okoroafor said.
“The journey of the CREAM platform has been an amazing one and I can only thank God and my dedicated team for the success. It has been a journey of painstaking planning, calculations, funding, making thorough research and futuristic thinking.”
Founded in 2016, CREAM allows people to subscribe using a USSD code to upload content for review and stand a chance to win monthly raffle draws.
