Oxlade releases Arabambi single
Nigerian Afrobeats act Oxlade has dropped his new track ‘Arabambi’. The song, his first release of the year, is available for streaming and download across all major digital platforms.
‘Arabambi’, a mid-tempo offering produced by Tmxo, follows his November two-track pack comprising the ‘Katigori’ and ‘Piano’ singles. It discusses love and loyalty. It rests on a bed of keys and groovy rhythms.
The song’s title boasts a myriad of English translations, including “the child of the people”, “the community gave birth to this child” and “the one”. It’s also the nickname of Fuji legend K1 De Ultimate.
Oxlade says the song’s melody was “inspired by the American singer Miguel and the way he uses his vocals. It’s a love song but it’s still me in my braggadocious elements. It is the original song I was meant to perform for COLORSxSTUDIOS before I swapped it for ‘Ku Lo Sa’.”
This single is accompanied by a music video filmed between St Lucia and Lagos, which will be released on 14 June. It was directed by Montecarlo Dream, with visual effects from Creed.
Oxlade boasts double-platinum certification for ‘Ku Lo Sa’ in Switzerland and platinum in Canada, France and Germany.
Over his career, he has collaborated with top African acts including Sarkodie, Fireboy DML, Ice Prince, Davido and CKay, as well as posthumously with songs by global icons Bob Marley and Whitney Houston.
Oxlade, signed to Epic Records, is readying the release of his new album Oxlade From Africa.
