SA: DESIREE joins Coachella 2025 line-up, announces Africa tour
South African DJ and producer DESIREE has reached a new career milestone with her inclusion in the Coachella 2025 line-up.
Set to perform at Empire Polo Club in California on 13 and 20 April, DESIREE continues her upward trajectory as one of Africa’s most exciting talents, cementing her place on the global stage. Alongside this achievement, she has announced an African tour that will bring her signature sound to audiences across the continent.
“Coachella is a dream come true,” DESIREE said. “The thought of playing Coachella still gives me butterflies. My journey from Ivory Park to one of electronic music’s biggest stages, it’s proof that staying true to yourself and your sound can take you places you never imagined. I’m excited to bring my whole self to that stage: my story, my music, my energy. It’s going to be something special.”
DESIREE has captivated audiences with her eclectic blend of electronic music and the rhythmic soul of her South African heritage. Her journey from the house music capital of South Africa to one of the world’s most iconic festivals underscores her exceptional artistry and resilience. As an intersex woman, DESIREE has also become a powerful voice for inclusivity, using her platform to amplify diverse stories in the music industry.
This announcement comes on the heels of a landmark 2024 for DESIREE, marked by stellar debuts at Glastonbury and Tomorrowland. She wraps up the year with a series of African tour dates, including the return of her acclaimed MMINO party series in January 2025. The series will kick off in Cape Town with Brussels-based DJ Blck Mamba headlining.
Coinciding with her tour is the release of her bold new EP, Intersexy. The two-track project showcases her artistic evolution and features ‘Khuluma Nami’, a poignant collaboration with Jabulile Majola, and the cinematic title track ‘Intersexy’. DESIREE describes the EP as a declaration of empowerment for marginalised voices, combining orchestral grandeur with haunting melodies to create music that is both emotionally resonant and irresistibly danceable.
