Cadbury Nigeria launches music education platform Breathe Academy
Cadbury Nigeria PLC has announced the launch of TomTom Breathe Academy, a learning management platform for music creatives and enthusiasts.
The move, according to the company, is the latest effort in its commitment to supporting and fostering creativity, building a supportive community and contributing to the success of emerging industry professionals.
Breathe Academy targets music creatives aged 18 to 34, offering them real-time learning experiences and an extensive curriculum that encompasses multiple aspects of the industry. It adds to a growing list of initiatives geared toward empowering young practitioners in the Nigerian music industry, which is currently enjoying global success thanks to the international explosion of the Afrobeats genre. A 2022 IFPI report found that Nigerian music genres ranked among the top 10 globally, with Nigerian fans listening to more music than any other country globally.
Students enrolled in the Breathe Academy programme will have the opportunity to explore the craft of songwriting, develop their skills in music production, gain valuable insights into artist management strategies and stay up-to-date with the latest trends in music marketing.
“Breathe Academy is an investment by Cadbury Nigeria PLC as our commitment to nurturing the next generation of music-industry trailblazers," Cadbury West Africa rep Morolake Emokpaire said. “We are ecstatic to provide a platform that not only imparts knowledge, but also fosters creativity, community and success.
“After sitting with young people to understand the pain points, we realised this was a burden we could easily address. The platform is one of the pillars through which we can nurture young talent. We will do more, but we want our users and fans to spread the word in getting more young creatives on board.”
In addition to its online offering, Breathe Academy will partner with music stakeholders across the value chain such as record labels and creative management firms to provide added value to its users, including exclusive access to experienced music executives.
