Call for applications: Business training for Kenyan creatives
The German Development Agency (GIZ), in partnership with Goethe-Institut and HEVA Fund, is calling on Kenyans working in the arts and culture space to apply for its third Business Skills Training for Creative Professionals.
This session will focus on the music and digital creative sectors. The training will be open to producers and artists in the music sector, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) creators, animators, digital artists, game designers and podcasters, among others.
The goal of this training is to improve the employment and income prospects of creative professionals in Kenya. The series of courses will provide the selected participants with better business and legal understanding as well as equip them with tools relevant to their fields that will help them flourish effectively within any commercial and organisational setting.
It aims to upskill young women entrepreneurs into building sustainable and local products to strengthen and support the culture and creative industry and its actors.
The training will consist of a series of online courses that will span over 12 weeks.
The online workshop will contain a series of modules including, but not limited to, modules such as:
- Understanding creative entrepreneurship.
- Building blocks for a healthy creative business.
- Knowing where one’s money is.
- Understanding laws and regulations for creative businesses.
- Understanding one’s product.
Training dates have been scheduled between 1 August and 28 October 2022.

It will help the organisers know applicants better and proceed with selecting the cohort of participants.
Note: Eligible candidates may be shortlisted for a stipend but 100% attendance in the programme is a prerequisite to qualify.
GIZ, Goethe-Institut and HEVA Fund form part of the JENGA CCI Global Project for Culture and Creative Industries, which is active in six countries.
