Call for entries: See the Sound festival in Germany
German film festival See the Sound is accepting music videos and films with a focus on music for its Best Music Documentary Prize.
See the Sound is the film festival for SoundTrack_Cologne, Europe’s leading conference for music and sound in film, games and media. The winner will be awarded during the conference between 9 and 12 June.
Since its inception, SoundTrack_Cologne has grown to be the leading platform for music and sound in film, games, TV and multimedia in general. With the festival, SoundTrack_Cologne offers a platform for outstanding films about music to be presented on the big screen.
This call targets filmmakers, producers and distributors worldwide whose production was completed in 2020 or 2021, and/or premiered after 1 January 2020.
The prize is €2 500 ($3 000).
Entries can be sent in the following categories:
- Music documentaries.
- Feature films (with a focus on music like biopics about musicians or bands etc.).
- Documentaries (about concerts, portraits of composers or portraits of bands, etc.).
- Music videos.
Eligibility
The screening print can be in one of the following formats: DCP, DVD or BluRay (preferred). The video format has to be PAL only. If the film’s original language is neither German nor English, subtitles in one of these languages are required.
Submission fees
- Short films (30 minutes max) – €15
- Feature films (more than 30 minutes) – €25
How to apply
The entry form is to be printed, signed and sent to seethesound@soundtrackcologne.de. The entry form for short films and feature films can be accessed here and here, respectively.
A selection committee will view the preview copies after which all entrants will be notified of the selection results via email.
Interested individuals need to send all entries by 15 March.
