International Africa Festival reveals 2023 line-up
The organisers of the International Africa Festival have revealed the artists who will perform at the 34th edition of the event in Würzburg, Germany, from 26 to 29 May.
The music extravaganza will feature exciting musicians from Africa and the diaspora. The event will also host acclaimed DJs trading in sounds such as kizomba, cumbia, reggae, kuduro, soukous, gqom and Afro-house.
Among those billed to perform are kora players Sona Jobarteh (the Gambia) and Senny Camara (Senegal), soul singer Ceuzany (Cape Verde), Afro-soul and jazz artist Nomfusi Gotyana (South Africa), guitarist Hervé Samb (Senegal), singer and guitarist Nina Ogot (Kenya) and celebrated singer and composer Ludmila Mercerón (Cuba), among others (see the full line-up below).
The DJs lined up for the event are HI John (Jamaica), DJ Walty Love (Angola), Catu Diosis (Uganda) and Freegah (Nigeria).
Also performing will be British-Congolese artist Juanita Euka whose repertoire spans tango, Afro-Peruvian music, Latin funk, Afrobeat and Congolese rumba.
Since its inception in 1989, the International Africa Festival has hosted more than 7 000 musicians and artists from 56 African and Caribbean countries and attracted more than 2 million visitors.
Early bird tickets are available until 31 January.
