Nigeria: Timaya drops Tomato single
Nigerian singer Timaya today dropped his new single titled ‘Tomato’.
The song, released through Dem Mama Records and distributed through EMPIRE, is available for streaming and download across all major digital platforms. It follows other well-received recent offerings like ‘Sweet Us’, ‘My Moto’ and ‘Cold Outside’ featuring Bnxn (formerly Buju).
Thematically, ‘Tomato’ is an invitation to surrender oneself to dance and embrace freedom. “As the music unfolds, Timaya’s infusion of infectious beats and irresistible melodies whisks listeners into a realm of sheer listening pleasure from the very first note,” a statement reads. “His distinctive fusion of Afro rhythms with contemporary elements yields a harmonious symphony that effortlessly bridges the chasm between nostalgia and modernity.”
The artist, who crossed 1 billion streams across all DSPs in May, first broke into mainstream acclaim in 2007 with the debut album True Story. Since then, he has released five other albums and collaborated with Grammy-winning Jamaican acts like Sean Paul and Morgan Heritage.
Meanwhile, Timaya has been confirmed – alongside Kcee, Omawumi and Timi Dakolo – as a headliner of the maiden Naija to the World concert slated for the Apollo Theatre in New York, USA on 16 September. According to a statement, the event will “cast a beam on the stories that make Nigerian creative talents unique.”
