Nigerian Entertainment Conference to welcome D’Banj
The artist whose last single, Emergency, has received a warm reception, is set to deliver the conference’s keynote address on the theme ‘Entertainment Industry as “Last Hope” for Africa’s largest economy.’
The erstwhile co-owner (alongside Don Jazzy) of defunct record label Mo’Hits Records now fronts his own D’Banj records and is the face of several brands including a telecom retail company and a headphone company. Although his music witnessed a decline in acceptance in the last few years, these affiliations have kept him in public view.
D’Banj first collaborated with organisers of the conference when he attended the first edition of the conference, which brings together major figures from the entertainment world for a series of sessions on the state of the industry, in 2013. In his return as keynote speaker, he will be sharing ideas for transforming the Nigerian music industry.
The keynote speech is a first for D’banj who had another first when it was announced that he will be anchoring the programme Lip Sync Battle Africa. By giving the NEC keynote, he follows the past speakers as 2Baba and MI Abaga. Speaking about his forthcoming keynote, D’banj said: “I’m looking forward to NEC. There will be a very major announcement and case studies I’ve never shared anywhere else.”
