Open call: Global South Arts and Health Envoy 2024
Professionals in various disciplines are invited to submit applications for the 2024 Global South Arts and Health Envoy fellowship programme.
The programme seeks to recognise emerging professionals, leading experts, community leaders, practitioners, innovators, advocates, activists, creative influencers, policymakers, philanthropists, scholars, educators, curators, cultural producers, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, scientists and researchers who are contributing to the growing evidence of the healing power of the arts in Africa, Asia, Latin America and other parts of the world (the Global North and beyond).
The Arts Envoy embodies the value of promoting arts and health practices, equity, education, collaboration, scientific research and inspiring sustainable creative health programming in their communities, home country and around the world.
To qualify as a global south arts and health envoy, applicants should demonstrate leadership, influence and impact in any of the following areas:
- Arts and Health Advocacy and Activism.
- Arts and Health Philanthropy.
- Arts and Health Research and Policy.
- Arts and Health Education and Training.
- Arts and Health Technology and Innovation.
- Arts and Health Creative Practice (Community Engagement).
- Arts and Health Leadership, Administration and Management.
Eligibility
- Applicants should be born or working in Africa, Asia, or Latin America or of African, Asian, and Latin American descent but living in the diaspora.
- Applicant lives in the diaspora (Global North but has ancestry affiliation to Africa, Asia, and Latin America that is yet to be discovered.
- Applicant should fill out and submit a written application in English language.
- Applicant should submit a reference letter from an authority figure that is conversant with his or her work (mentor, project collaborator, community leader, university professor, professional colleague, a leader in the private, public or non-profit sector).
Application timeline
- Opening date: 7 October 2023.
- Application deadline: 7 November 2023.
Selection notification
- Successful applicants will be notified from 27 November to 7 December.
Global South Arts Envoy Media Announcement
- 17 December to 27 December.
Programme timeline
- January 2024: Virtual Inauguration of the Global South Arts Envoy.
- February 2024: Each Envoy Track will host a Community Town Hall Meeting to discuss their works (online, onsite or hybrid) within the space of three months.
- March 2024: Envoys connect virtually to host meetings where they share best practices, Ideate, and collaborate on a project idea they might want to collectively implement (envoys with the same track/area of interest).
- April 2024: Arts and Health Envoy Project (optional): Envoys begin to work on an Individual or group project which could be track-based. It should not exceed a duration of one year. Envoys can present their projects in the year of their inauguration or subsequent year(s) at the Global South Arts and Health Week International Convening or the Global South and North International Arts and Health Exchange.
- May 2024: Envoys will participate in the virtual Onboarding and Preparation for the Global South Arts and Health Week, Qatar.
- November 2024: Global South Arts and Health Envoys are recognised for their works and are presented awards at the International Convening of the Global South Arts and Health Week, Qatar.
Recognition as a Global South Arts Envoy
- This award confers applicants as Global South Arts and Health Envoys.
- Applicants will have the opportunity to present their work at the Global South Arts and Health Week in Qatar in 2024 and beyond.
- Opportunity for Global Collaboration.
- Applicants will be given a certificate of recognition during the annual International Convening of the Global South Arts and Health Week.
- The award confers participants as life-long recognition as Global South Arts and Health Envoys.
