The aim of this project aid scheme is to support artists and cultural operators from civil society in Africa, as well as the French cultural network, in particular by supporting creation and distribution projects and major events with a regional dimension on the continent.
Projects eligible for support:
- Festivals and major cultural events (biennials, professional platforms, etc.).
- Support for artistic creation for projects with regional or international ambitions.
- Dissemination and distribution of projects: exhibitions, workshops, etc.
- Innovative and eco-responsible digital projects.
- Regional tours concerning projects by artists or companies based on the African continent or co-creation cooperation projects in the various fields of performing arts, music, circus and street arts. In order to receive support from the Institut français, these regional tours must include several dates on the continent (at least 5 or 6 dates in a minimum of three countries).
- Projects selected for the AOCA 2024 programme.
At the close of the project commission held on 25 January 2024, 72 projects will be eligible for support under the AOCA programme, including 17 regional tours. The commission brought together several teams and sector experts from the Institut Français, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture.
Among the 210 projects received from 32 African countries, there was a good representation of music and performing arts projects in all their diversity (dance, theatre, circus, puppetry), as well as visual arts projects (festivals, travelling exhibitions). Particular attention was paid to projects with a regional dimension, i.e. involving several countries and partners on the continent, artistic collaborations or exchanges, projects led by female artists or operators, or operations aimed at women, as well as projects with an eco-responsible approach.
Interested professionals should apply here before 30 October.
