Prince Claus Fund announces recipients of 2022 Impact Awards
The Prince Claus Fund in the Netherlands has announced the recipients of its 2022 Impact Awards.
The announcement follows an open call where artists and cultural practitioners were invited to submit applications for the recognition of both the excellent quality of their work and of their positive contribution to the development of their society.
Every two years, the Impact Awards honour six trailblazing individuals who engage their own communities with creative works that are relevant, urgent and inspiring.
For this year’s awards, 94 nominations were received and a final selection was decided by an independent jury comprising curator Pablo León de la Barra, architect Mariam Kamara, dancer and storyteller Faustin Linyekula, multimedia artist Dinh Q Lê and curator Maya El Khalil.
“Representing a variety of fields, from architecture, poetry and philosophy to visual and performance art, these individuals dedicate their work to addressing political and environmental issues, the nature of identity and human rights in forms that engage and empower their own communities,” the Prince Claus Fund said.
