Sjava and DBN Gogo to headline Bassline Fest in SA
South African musicians Sjava and DBN Gogo will headline the 2023 edition of Bassline Fest at Constitution Hill in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 20 May.
Sjava and DBN Gogo will be joined by Afrotronix (Chad), Scúru Fitchádu (Cape Verde) and Fayazer (Reunion Island), with the organisers saying that more artists will be added to the Africa Month celebration soon.
“Bassline Fest is a day to look forward to, as it is a day to have fun, listen to incredible live music, and eat scrumptious food from the food trucks and stalls while shopping at the artisanal arts and craft market,” Bassline Live co-organiser Paige Holmes said.
Bassline Live’s Brad Holmes added: “Bassline Fest is set to be a day of music and celebration of our humanity, resilience and overall incredible creativity and talent that our beautiful African continent births. The line-up of artists reflect the inclusivity, diversity and tolerance that the city of Jozi inhabits.”
The festival will be held in partnership with the Department of Sports Arts and Culture, Castle Lite, the Music In Africa Foundation and ACCES.
“What this support does is aid the live music industry as a whole as it creates work for the full live music industry eco-system from production, marketing, performing service providers and artists,” Brad Holmes said. “It also creates a place for festivalgoers to escape while getting entranced by the artistic talent and to get entertained and have some fun.”
