Vusi Mahlasela to headline final episode of 2016 Live @ The Bassline
With 2016 heading to an end, South Africa’s celebrated singer and songwriter, Vusi Mahlasela, will perform at Kaya FM’s final episode of its popular series 'Live @ The Bassline' on Friday 2 December at the Bassline in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Affectionately known as ‘The Voice’, Vusi is expected to bring a stirring end to the Kaya Live @ Bassline series for the year. The legendary Mamelodi based musician will bring his unique sound and powerful live show that has created magic across the world for over three decades. Vusi has coined the Soul Shine concept, a spread of Ubuntu through music, to capture this experience, and his return to The Bassline in Newtown.
Vusi’s performance at The Bassline will not only feature all his popular tunes drawn from a songbook built over ten albums, but the show will feature more than a few musical surprises. Mamelodi based guitar prodigy, Sbu Mashinini, who has built a reputation for being an ace player will join him.
With his hugely successful global career and numerous accolades and awards, Vusi remains a humble man committed to his music and his positive messages. His unique vocal style and lyrical acoustic guitar playing will no doubt amuse attendees at the Bassline platform.
The previous edition was headlined by South South African singing duo Mafikizolo who had a one-night performance.
This year, The Bassline celebrated 22 years in the music sector. Throughout the year, a number of South African musicians performed at this popular event, notably: songstress Lira in June; singer Simphiwe Dana in August; Judith Sephuma in October; jazz, fusion and mbaqanga musician Ray Phiri in September; and South African singing duo Mafikizolo in November.
