SA: Mörda shares new EP Cr4zy!!..
South African dance music DJ and producer Mörda has released a new five-track EP titled Cr4zy!!..
The record, which is available for streaming and download on major digital platforms, features Brenden Praise, Lusanda, Mpho.Wav and Kwamzy. It follows his 12-track second album Asante II released in September last year.
“This is music for the feet,” Mörda said. “I always make music for the soul, but now I want to make people move physically.”
Mörda’s unique sound, carefully curated from everyday moments that catch his attention, has been tested in live performances, consistently drawing immediate reactions from audiences. Cr4zy!!..’s inspiration stems from Mörda’s keen ear for the extraordinary in the ordinary.
“I was inspired by the sounds I was exposed to. Sounds from moments that would just pop up from nowhere. This unique approach to sound curation has resulted in an innovative and instantly engaging collection,” he said.
The EP opens with the uplifting ‘F33LING GOOD’ track, which along with ‘WH3R3 1 B3LÖNG’, ‘B3 W17H YÖU’ and ‘BL3551NG5’ take listeners on a deeply personal journey. The project is bookended by the heartfelt ‘MOR3NA’, a poignant tribute to the source of his blessings. The introspective EP is a true reflection of Mörda’s current state of mind, celebrating the beauty of life despite humble beginnings.
“Life is beautiful and for someone that comes from where I come from, that is crazy,” he said.
The creation of Cr4zy!!.. was remarkably fluid, with each element falling into place effortlessly. “When a song comes together seamlessly, you know it’s special,” Mörda said, adding that the organic evolution began shortly after the release of Asante II, which showcases the natural growth and artistic progression of his unique sound.
While details of his upcoming tour remain under wraps, Mörda hinted at something special on the horizon. “I’m building my catalogue, then I will surprise everyone with something special,” he added.
Born Robert Bongani Mohosana in Pretoria, Mörda, discovered his passion for music at a tender age. He joined the church choir, where he not only honed his vocal skills but also learned to play various instruments. This multifaceted talent later blossomed into a successful career as a composer, dancer and vocalist. Mörda’s big break came as part of the acclaimed drum-powered house duo Black Motion, before he embarked on a solo journey.
Following a string of international performances, he released his debut solo album, Asante, in 2022. Dedicated to his daughter, the album features an impressive line-up of collaborators, including Focalistic, Nkosazana Daughter, Oscar Mbo, Yallunder, and more, across 10 infectious tracks.
