Call for applications: SA Indie Film Fest
The South African Independent Film Festival (SAIFF) is accepting applications for its second edition that is set to take place from 24 to 26 May 2019.
- Independent filmmakers are invited to submit original works for the 2019 edition of the SA Indie Film Fest.
Submissions are open to all filmmakers regardless of the date in which the music videos, short films or documentaries were released. Entries are open to filmmakers from around the world.
There are four submission deadlines:
- Early bird – 30 September 2018
- Regular – 15 March 2019
- Late – 10 April 2019
- Extended – 30 April 2019
Early-bird submissions will cost a standard fee of $20 and a student fee of $15. Thereafter, submissions will cost $35 (standard) and $20 for students for all categories. All extended deadline submissions will cost $50.
To enter, filmmakers must go to the FilmFreeway website and enter the following details:
- Project information.
- Submitter information.
- Film specifications.
- Credits.
- Distribution and screenings.
Requirements
- Short films not be longer than 20 minutes (minimum 1 minute).
- Music videos must not be longer than 10 minutes.
- Non-English films must come with subtitles.
- Video resolution must be 720p and above.
Submission that do not meet these requirements will not be considered. Successful applicants will be notified on 1 May 2019.
“The South African Independent Film Festival aims to support both emerging and experienced filmmakers by creating a breeding place for their work to be reviewed and judged and providing access to a larger audience through media artistic events,” a SAIFF statement reads.
