Deadline looms for Felabration 2023 art and dance competitions entry
Submissions are ongoing for the 2023 edition of the Felabration art and dance competitions ahead of the annual music festival later this year.
Founded in 1998 by Yeni Anikulapo-Kuti, Fela Kuti’s daughter, Felabration pays tribute to the Afrobeat pioneer. The festival takes place annually at the New Afrika Shrine in Lagos, Nigeria, and this year’s theme is Question Jam Answer, after Fela’s 1972 classic by the same title.
Since its inception, Felabration has hosted international music stars including Hugh Masekela (South Africa), Seun Kuti (Nigeria), Femi Kuti (Nigeria), Awilo Logomba (DRC), Aṣa (Nigeria), 2Baba (Nigeria) and Sauti Sol (Kenya), among others.
This year’s edition is slated for 9 October.
The art and dance competitions, now in their seventh year, will reward the winners with cash prizes.
