Ghana's Shatta Wale is the face of Jamaican dancehall compilation
Ghanaian artist Shatta Wale has been featured on a Jamaican dancehall compilation titled Tropical House Crusie to Jamaica: The Reggae Collector's Edition, which is out on 5 June.
The 25-track compilation, digitally released by Contractor Music Group (CMG) and distributed by Atlanta-based Amada Records, features top-selling artists from Jamaica such as Capleton, Sizzla, Beenie Man, Vybz Kartel and Elephant Man. Others include Don Yute, Mojo Morgan, Wayne Wonder, Singing Melody, Peetah Morgan, Tommy Lee Sparta, SkilliBeng, Voicemail and Royce Da59.
"From Ghana to da world, we keep rising from grace to grace. Thank you Shatta Movement, I love y’all. Big shout to all the artistes on bill. Let’s make history!" Shatta Wale posted on his Instagram account.
Commenting on the new project, CMG founder Sean 'Contractor' Edwards said: "I am very thankful to the reggae fans of Africa, in particular Ghana. We made Shatta Wale, the artist from Ghana, as the face of the project to open up the African market, and the decision has paid off."
This album solidifies the multi-award-winning artist's relationship with the Caribbean and could be seen as a career highlight. Last year, he was featured in another high-profile collaboration – Beyoncé's The Lion King: The Gift album – where he excelled on the single 'Already'.
The artist is currently working on his Gift of God album set to be released later in the year.
