National Music Summit set for Accra today
Organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) will hold the second annual National Music Summit at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, Ghana, today.
The event, put together by Charterhouse Ghana and held in commemoration of World Music Day, is running under the theme Route to Success in GH Music.
The summit brings together music professionals, policymakers and other stakeholders in the Ghanaian music space in discussions geared toward moving the industry forward. The panellists will tackle issues such as music business landscape’s fast changing nature and attendant challenges, success in the music industry and how artists can properly understand their music career in Ghana and beyond.
Industry experts programmed for this year’s edition include Ghanaian label execs Richie Mensah, George Britton, creative entrepreneur Kofi ‘IamBeatMenace’ Boachie-Ansah, media professional Francis Doku and South African A&R expert Munya Chanetsa.
Ghana Music Rights Organisation board chairman Rex Omar will present an update of the collective management organisation as well as the way forward for the body. Twitter Ghana senior partner manager Bernard Sokpe will speak on ‘how musicians can leverage the social media platform to amplify their craft.
The 2022 National Music Summit will commence at 2pm GMT and be livestreamed across the official VGMAs social media channels.
