SA: Listen to DJ12inch’s single Wet and The Sweat Is Dropping
South Africa’s DJ12inch has dropped a new song titled ‘Wet and The Sweat Is Dropping’ off his upcoming SubUrban Grooves debut album set for release on 17 September.
‘Wet and The Sweat Is Dropping’ features Abdi Whosane and US-based South African artist Circe on vocals.
The dance track is a bouncy blend of deep house beats and Mzansi-flavoured raps. The 11-track SubUrban Grooves album features tracks like ‘Dope Go Getter’, ‘Darl Hearts’, ‘Angel Fish’ and ‘Chase Bliss’.
“‘Wet and The Sweat Is Dropping’ began as a hip hop remix of a track that Circe was doing in the US,” DJ12inch said. “I had worked with Abdi, who also fronted The Rudimentals, among many other projects, as a voice artist with my day job and I asked him to add to the track that was called ‘Sex Drop’ at the time. Again, much like with ‘Dope Go Getter’, I thought it would also sound cool quicker.”
DJ12inch’s passion for music began during his teens when he and his three friends formed indie-pop band the Dolly Rockers. He later joined Jeremy de Tolly of The Dirty Skirts to form another band called Prankster, which worked with The One Who Sings (Zolani Mahola), Leboa Mashile and Tamsin MacCarthy on two albums.
