A soulful music mix at Koroga Festival in Kenya

Fresh from their first international tour, Mi Casa will continue their 'Mi Casa Gone Global' at the 8th edition of Koroga Festival. The soulful trio – Dr. Duda, J’Something and Mo-T – recently embarked on the tour that has seen them perform in the UK, Holland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Canada and the US, taking their sound to the world.

Besides Mi Casa, Suzanna Owiyo often referred to as 'Kenya’s Tracy Chapman' and the 2015 Airtel Trace Music Star winner Benjamin Webi will also perform at the festival. Suzanna Owiyo’s music is a fusion of traditional western Kenyan music and contemporary rhythms. Traditional instruments nyatiti, orutu, always feature in her songs. Her 2014 single ‘Wamiel' (Lets Dance). the first single off her untitled album to be released later in 2015, has been well received since she launched it in December last year. ‘Wamiel’ is a bonafide dance song with authentic African beats that include rhythmic guitars applauding the style of Benga.

Benjamin Webi, on the other hand, has written songs for churches as well as performed with various well known music artists in Kenya. This will be his first time to perform since winning the Airtel Trace Music Star Competition.   

Aptly named after the Swahili word meaning “mix,” The Koroga Festival is a reflection of Kenya’s brilliant and diverse local talent, whilst also attracting leading artists from all over Africa through music, fashion, food and arts.
