South Africa’s Proverb named Flight Centre non-exec director
17 Jul 2017 - 12:13
Rapper and TV show host Tebogo Thekisho, better known as Proverb, has been appointed non-executive director to the Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) and FCM Solutions’ corporate boards.
In conversation with Music in Africa about his appointment, Proverb said the venture is about making travel more accessible to others and he recognises the need for accessibility because he is an avid traveller himself.
Asked whether he would eventually venture into his own travel retail business, Proverb said, "Right now, the focus is to learn as much as I can."
The acclaimed rapper also spoke about his music career, which seems to be on hold for other projects. "People have been impatient with me," he said. "I've been recording as music is a priority, but there is just a lot happening right now, with a brand new radio show, the new season of idols and the appointment by flight centre."
In an interview with GQ, the CFO of the FCTG said: “[Proverb] will add a lot of value because he understands this innovative culture, which separates us from any of our competitors."
