Kabelo Eric Kgaodi
Bio
Born on 18 April 1985, Kabelo Eric Kgaodi is a renowned gospel artist from Kgatleng District in Botswana. He began singing when he was five years old. He was raised in a Christian background and grew up listening to music from South African artists namely Rebecca Malope and Lundi. His passion for music grew stronger when he was a member of the choir in high school at the age of 13. This saw him getting an award for the Best Male Student in Music at his school.
In 2006 he joined the My African Dream competition where he emerged as the Top 10 finalist. In 2007 he began composing songs and later became a member of Botswana Musician Union. That same year he released a debut album tilted ‘Jutasewa Mosekariota’ followed by ‘Oh! Modimo!’(2010) and ‘His Worship’ released in 2014.
In 2008, he received the Best Performing Arts Award at the Botswana National Youth Awards. His hit ‘A e PhetheheThato Yao’ earned him his first international accolade for the Best Religious Song at the Museke Online Africa Music Awards in 2011 in the the U.S. That same year he was nominated in the Best Gospel Male Artist of the year at the Africa Gospel in London, in the U.K. and Best Male Gospel Artist (BOMU) Awards in Botswana.
He has worked with local musicians such as Joel Keitumele, TebbieSetlhomo, Lister Boleseng, NnunuRamogotsi and Suggie Fisher. Kabelo has shared the stage with KekePhoofolo, Solly Mahlangu, Winnie Mashaba, Uche, William Sejake, SphumuleleMbambo and many others.
