EarthSync launches international platform for music showcases
The IndiEarth platform by Indian audio-visual production house and record label EarthSync has partnered with nine international festivals and music trade events to launch a global initiative for culture and music called Culturas 360° – which will host professional performance showcases worldwide.
The African events involved include Mozambique Music Meeting and Kriol Jazz Festival in Cape Verde. Others are WOMAD, La Mare de Déu de la Salut (Spain), Ollin Kan Festival (Mexico), Sunfest (UK and Canada), IndiEarth XChange (India), Havana International Jazz Festival (Cuba) and Artes á Rúa (Portugal).
The showcases will be available to stream online on the Culturas 360° YouTube channel, with the first edition scheduled for 27 and 28 March. African artists on the line-up include Siti & the Band (Zanzibar), Maya Kamaty (Reunion), Jenifer Solidade (Cape Verde), Moticoma (Mozambique) and Cheny & Xixel (Mozambique). Others are Triunico (Portugal), ETE (Canada), Septeto Santiaguero (Cuba), Abraham Cupeiro (Galicia) and Francisco el Hombre (Brazil), among others.
Beyond a virtual celebration of music, the project also seeks to provide unique opportunities for outstanding artists to network and collaborate internationally.
“A collective of festivals, professionals and artists stand together with a commitment to stay strong, support artists and cultures as well as ensure that the music of our world is heard far and wide,” the organisers said.
“We are committed to continuing our work for music, artists and audiences, despite the current hardships for our music festivals, venues and industry professionals. Live music festivals may be cancelled but we are here to work together for a brighter tomorrow.
“We are committed to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development goals. Together, we push for change and a more equitable world where every culture’s voice is acknowledged, valued and protected.”
The public can support Culturas 360° by donating funds here or offering direct sponsorships to showcasing artists.
