Art X Lagos, West Africa’s first international art fair, which takes place from 4 - 6 November at The Civic Centre, Lagos, will bring together some of the continent’s best contemporary visual and musical art.
The art fair, founded and directed by Tokini Peterside, with Bisi Silva as its creative director, will feature contemporary art from African artists such as David Nthubu Koloane (South Africa); Kudzanai Chiurai (Zimbabwe); Amadou Sanogo (Mali) Barthélémy (Cameroon); Jeremiah Quarshie (Ghana); Ghada Amer (Egypt).
Nnenna Okore, George Oshodi, and Victor Ehikhamenor, among others, will represent the host country.
Art X will include live performances from Falana, Simi, Vector, and the Collectiv3's Poe and Ikon. Live installations at the event are slated for 5 and 6 November.
Over three days, Art X promises an immersive experience in contemporary african art in ways that will push the edges of what is known and accepted. It will also feature Art Talks, including ‘Cultural Entrepreneurship and the Rise of Women Leaders’, to be moderated Tokini Peterside, director of the fair.
Panelists include Reni Folawiyo, founder of Alara, the Lagos luxury concept store; Mo Abudu, founder of Ebony Life TV; and Bolanle Austen Peters, founder of popular Lagos art space Terra Kulture.
