Ghana: GuiltyBeatz inks Sony Music Publishing UK deal
Ghanaian DJ and producer GuiltyBeatz has secured a deal with Sony Music Publishing UK (SMP UK).
The ‘Akwaaba’ man announced the news to his followers on social media. “I’m super excited to announce that I’m officially part of Sony Music Publishing UK Family,” he posted. “The next phase of this journey has been unlocked.
“Welcome, GuiltyBeatz,” SMP UK tweeted in response. “So excited to be part of this journey.”
GuiltyBeatz is the second Ghanaian to ink a deal with the David Ventura-led company this month. In early August, following the release of his latest album No Pressure, rapper Sarkodie also revealed that he had signed a “general publishing deal” with SMP UK.
GuiltyBeatz’s deal is expected to amplify his international footprint. He is credited on music with Nigerian stars like Tiwa Savage and Mr Eazi, UK acts Kida Kudz and Ms Banks, and US pop icon Beyoncé.
GuiltyBeatz was born Ronald Banful in Palermo, Italy, and rose to fame for his Afrobeats, electro-house and dance releases, including the 2020 EP Different. His latest release is with English singer-songwriter Jorja Smith on the track ‘All of This’.
