Ayanda Jiya

The Genesis

Ayanda Jiya is a sultry singer and songwriter from the North West Province in South Africa. She was born in small town called Klerksdorp back in 1987. Musically she is influenced by a lot of genres she grew up listening to, mostly Gospel, Jazz, Neo Soul and RnB. With a family who supported her talent, she was nurtured in the comfort of her own home to become a musician and an exceptional songwriter.

Music Journey

The songstress was nominated for “Best RnB Single” at the Metro FM Awards in 2015 for her hit song “Go Go Girl”. Now Ayanda has gone independent and is recognised internationally. In 2016 she was granted to perform in Sri Lanka’s capital city Colombo, at their Annual Jazz Festival. She released her second EP “To Whom It May Concern” on the 8th of June 2017. It hit number 1 in its first week of release on both iTunes and Google Play. Her first single “I’m Doing Fine” and second single “Outta Control” are on rotation on all national radio stations.

Career Highlights

Ayanda finally released her highly anticipated debut album, simply titled “AYANDASTAND”, on the 8th of August 2019. It debuted at number one on iTunes and Google Play. She teamed up with Areece for her first single “Falling For You”, that dropped on the 14th February 2019. Her current single “The Sun” charted at number 2 across all radio stations in South Africa. Guest features on AYANDASTAND includes Stogie T, Ziyon and Naomi Parchment (USA). In 2020 she was selected as part of SA delegation to attend SXSW in Austin, Texas, USA. Unfortunately the event was cancelled due to the Corona virus pandemic outbreak. She was also set to open for the Multi Grammy nominated and BET and ASACP Awards winner, Musiq Soulchild on his South African tour - this was postponed due to the Corona virus pandemic.

Summary:

Ayanda's musical journey spans over 15 years and has seen her perform in various cities in South Africa and globally. She has done a 10 city tour across the US, has performed in other destinations as well like Dubai, Sri Lanka, Kenya, etc. She recently was selected as one of the five artists to represent South Africa at the Hong Kong Arts Expo and where she performed with an ensemble from Hong Kong. She has also attended international events like SXSW in the US and the Global Expo in Dubai.

Ayanda has also featured on various artists projects and has featured multiple other artists on her projects as well. She’s getting ready to release her next album, which she will also use to celebrate her 15th year anniversary in music space.

Her current album, "A Tale of a Fallen Queen" was recently nominated for Best Soul/R&B album at the 30th South African Music Awards.

More is still expected of this amazing young talent, dubbed South Africa's rising queen of RnB/Soul.
