New season of VIP ACCESS to feature 18 African artists
Kenyan music publicist and media entrepreneur Anyiko Owoko has announced the launch of the second season of VIP ACCESS, her YouTube show and its companion podcast.
The new season is set to premiere on 7 March with new episodes airing every Tuesday at 7pm EAT. It will feature 18 artists from Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, South Sudan, South Africa and the US.
“My podcast series is back. Brace yourself for inspiring stories from authentic artists because the most powerful stories emerge behind the scenes,” Owoko said. “From topics cutting across music making, brand building, breaking big, career drive and originality to emerging trends and genres, VIP ACCESS Season 2 is an exclusive access into industry issues through the lens of Africa’s brightest and most talented. It’s also an exciting discovery into the emerging artists set to become Africa's next biggest acts.”
The new season will spotlight rising and established hip hop stars from across the continent, including Kenyan ‘femcees’ Groovy Jo, Maandy and Wangechi. Also set to appear are Ghanaian rapper M.anifest, Ugandan hip hop star Flex D'Paper and South Africa’s folk-fusion artist Pilani Bubu.
Kenyan hitmakers Vic West and Mutoriah will also join the programme alongside contemporary R&B and soul singers Meryl Paige, Olivia Ambani, Muthaka, Coster Ojwang’, Brian Nadra and more.
“It feels good to work hard on myself and my product,” Owoko added. “This is exactly how I always wanted to do it for myself. Even if no one watched this, I am so content with myself and the product, but I need you all to watch because I want us to change our perspectives towards artists and who is a star. This is why I am presenting you with never-before-heard stories of superstars of yesterday, today and tomorrow.”
Anyiko is the founder of Anyiko Public Relations, an artists and culture PR agency based in Nairobi steering campaigns across Africa. She also works as music and events curator for several outfits and cultural institutions. VIP ACCESS first aired in 2018.
