Bio
Derrick Kwabena Safo Kantanka, known by his stage name Amerado (Amerado Burner), is a Ghanaian hip hop and hiplife artist from Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. The moniker "AMERADO" symbolises "A Master Every Rapper Always Dream Of." He was discovered by Azee Ntwene in 2015 during Solid FM's Freestyle Saturday initiative, where he emerged as the 2nd Runner-up. Initially associated with Rap Pagez, Amerado later became the flagship artist of MicBurnerz Music, transitioning from his former name after Strongman joined Sarkcess Music.
In January 2017, Amerado released his first major track under the label, titled 'I AM', produced by Azee Ntwene himself. This song was highly acclaimed in the hip-hop and hiplife genre, garnering over 40 000 downloads across music platforms. The track paid homage to hiplife pioneers and earned Amerado recognition from established musicians like Reggie Rockstone, Edem, Okyeame Kwame, and Stay Jay, who praised and collaborated with him.
Amerado is recognised for his signature attire: a black hoodie paired with distinctive African print designs. He goes by various monikers, including The Beast, The Hoodie Rapper, Twi Machine, Mogya Mono, Lyrical Bawumia, Beat Denkyem, among others.
