Produced by Lagos-based beatmaker Yasso, the song speaks to uplifting themes, honouring the “aspirations of the future and the ongoing pursuit to turn them into achievements,” Yemi Alade said. “This is a dedication to all those envisioning brighter days, serving as an anthem for champions.”
Specifically, ‘Tomorrow’ centres on the hopeful promise of what the next day can bring, and the opportunity to achieve what one didn’t manage today, urging trust in God’s divine guidance despite the unknowns of the future.
Set for release later this year, Yemi Alade’s new album, Rebel Queen – described as representing its author’s originality, bold spirit and global domination to a great degree – is expected to house a cocktail of genres, with highlife as the foundation.
The singer said: “I created this album with the sole purpose of creating music I grew up loving and the variety I have grown to love now. I was inspired by the core African music of Highlife and different genres that got us excited as Africans.”
Yemi Alade, a multiple award-winner and UNDP Goodwill ambassador, is set to perform in France on 21 September alongside her African Train Band as part of her 2024 tour series.
