Born, bred and buttered in Kiambu, most days Kuiyu is an artist, pursuing authenticity in happiness. With a strong sense of place; his art draws from multiple influences without leaning on one in particular. Oozing with Life, the flawa boy brings to African creativity a fresh wind of Self
love & awareness, authentic expression & genuine spectrum representation. His work resonates with a vulnerable essence, bold styling and daresome execution. Exploring romanticism, identity and orientations, spirituality and the emancipation of the African mind.
As a songwriter, Kuiyu demonstrates mastery in sound and emotion design, with revelatory lyrics that peep into the human condition. Relatability being a strong bias in his work, his craft captures the otherly elements of the African reality shedding light on the things that matter most to him and the many hues of everyday African life in the 21st century.
In his early years, Kuiyu was focused on Music leadership, his band W3NZA was formed at the tender age of 11. He joined the Kenyan Boys Choir late 2011 till 2016. A notable soloist ,he assisted the choir in song-writing and composing with performances around Nairobi, Maasai Mara (Bogani) and Diani. Internationally, he toured with the group to Tanzania (2013) and North
America ; Canada & USA (2015) .
Kuiyu began work on his debut album 'Kionjo' meaning a ‘a taste of’ in Swahili. ‘Kionjo’ is an eleven-track album showcasing his versatility and consistency in both sound and style. The album debuted in September 2017 to much acclaim, and was hailed by the likes of www.Bandcamp.com.
He later recorded a Live E.P in 2019 which was later released in February 2020 dubbed "Bloom".
