Quatre opus africains ont été nominés dans la catégorie Best World Music Album. Ils sont signés Soweto Gospel Choir (Afrique du Sud), Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 (Nigéria), Fatoumata Diawara (Mali) et Bombino (Niger).

Le groupe russe Yiddish Glory est le seul candidat non-africain de la catégorie.

Le rappeur américain Kendrick Lamar en lice dans 8 catégories, est l’artiste qui totalise le plus de nominations. Il est suivi du Canadien Drake qui a été nomminé sept fois.

Chez les dames, les chanteuses américaines Brandi Carlile, Cardi B et Lady Gaga totalisent chacune six nominations.
