Salax Awards Rwanda 2019: All the winners
The 2019 edition of the Salax Awards took place at Kigali Serena Hotel in Rwanda on 31 March.
Bruce Melody was the night’s biggest winner, taking home two awards in the Best R&B Artist and Best Male Artist categories. In 2017, the singer made history when he became the first Rwandan musician to participate in Coke Studio Africa, which was broadcast in more than 30 countries.
Mani Martin, who was honoured with the Best Culture and Traditional Artist Award told Music In Africa that creating traditional music made him proud of his culture.
“It feels great to be recognised by the local industry,” he said. “This is my third award under this category. I want to thank those traditional Rwandan artists who inspired me with their music. I urge more artists to strive to include cultural music in their work.”
