Yaaba Funk

A multi-racial Afrobeat band, based in London, United Kingdom and fronted by maverick Ghanaian singer and composer, Chief Commander Yaaba (real name Richmond Kessie).

The band started out as a collective of Afrobeat afficionadoes and DJ's in South London and metamorphosed into one of the UK's finest Afrobeat bands. Performing in Ghanaian languages, Pidgin English and once in a while in English. The band's live performances, are an exhibition of high energy, unbridled joy and a huge dash of excellent musicianship.

The band has released two album's, including the critically acclaimed 'Afrobeast' in 2011 and current effort, 'My vote dey count', released in 2014 and continues to perform in and around the UK and Europe.
