Nda Chi, the artist who connects worlds
Only God, Only Music
Nda Chi, whose real name is Armand Noel Ntoungchi Kamtchoua, is an artistic phenomenon transcending borders and norms, shining through his versatility, innovation and commitment. Singer, singer-songwriter, dancer, choreographer, instrumentalist, photo model, he masters all aspects of his art and offers unique, energetic, authentic and captivating performances. His artist name, meaning "only God", reflects gratitude for the gift of music that he believes he received divinely.
Born on December 23 in Baleng, in western Cameroon, Nda Chi comes from a line of “Kam” (grassfield notables) and queens. He was initiated at a very young age into the secret society “Nelong’o”, where he learned the traditional rhythms and instruments of his people. He continued his studies in law, political science and performing arts with an option in musicology and choreography (he is more interested in ethnomusicology). He thus acquired a solid general and musical culture, which allowed him to create his own musical style, which he calls LESSA Groove.
"LESSA is the rhythm of my village, which is very catchy and festive. I mix it with modern sounds, like funk, rock, pop, gospel choirs, and ad-libs that come to me from the world of minds where I feel connected. I sing in several languages, including NEGHAPELONG, MVUH, French and English. I want to discover the richness of my culture, while being open to influences from around the world."
His musical career began in 2018 with the song “Dis Moi”, well received by critics. In 2019, he won the national song competition “Mützig Star”, thus establishing himself among the general public. He then released his first album "Ngi Ngun" (Voice of the People), winning the best album prize at the Visartculture Ouest Awards. Her EP “Mengwi” (Woman) pays tribute to women and criticizes patriarchal society. He also won the gold medal in the song category at the XI Francophone Games, becoming the first Cameroonian to obtain this distinction. He maintains his presence on the stage despite obstacles, doubts and criticism, proud to represent his country and his continent internationally.
During a traditional ceremony, Nda Chi shared a memorable emotional experience: "By singing an ancestral lament from my village, I felt a deep connection with my roots. This moment reinforced my passion for preserving and sharing the riches of my culture through my music. The vibrations of this melody have transcended time, creating a unique spiritual experience."
In addition to music, Nda Chi is passionate about dance. He evolved in different companies and was the choreographer of Ayissi Le Duc's troupe "Otitié, star of Cameroon". With his partner Ariane Domguia, alias Mimi, he created the dance group "Modern Afro Soul". They share an exceptional bond, creating choreographies appreciated by renowned artists. Nda Chi is also a photo model, presenting himself as an ORnate artist, adorned with gold, a symbol of wealth, power and beauty. He declares: "My image reflects my personality, my vision, my message. I want to be an example for...
